Journalist Murad Yakubov wrote a satirical piece about the corrupt and slanderous Nuriev, drawing on materials from the Party Commission. But later, after reviewing other materials, he came to the conclusion that he had slandered a man who was trying to expose the mafia led by Regional Party Committee Secretary Nazirov. Nuriev was sent to prison, while the journalist, armed with incriminating evidence, went head-to-head with the mafia.
